Tarot Automatic Beading

This necklace was made from 2 sets of tarot cards in an automatic way of beading.

What exactly do I mean?

It’s inspired by a Surrealism exhibition at Tate Modern. I was fascinated by the idea of automatic art where you remove conscious intention from the creation process.

So here comes automatic beading.

I asked my girlfriend to choose 46 tarot cards in a particular order following her intuition. Meanwhile, with another set of cards, I assign one unique bead to each card. I am not an expert on tarot but tried to feel into each card. Finally, I used the beads according to her selection and order.

And the result was magical. Isn’t it amazing that there seem to be different themes and phases in different parts of the necklace?

First rustic and green, then vibrant and colorful, later pure and innocent, and then wild and lively, and finally back to earthy to peaceful tones. Seems to correspond to different phases of life too, hence it’s named “Wheel of Fortune.”

So who/what do you think is the designer? What does the result suggest?
